Furniture, Upholstery and Curtains All Benefit from the touch of Propress

We took a trip up to visit Boss Design and see how they use Propress on their West Midlands based Production line.

Boss Design have been using Propress Steamers for over 20 years, we love their furniture and have some of their epic Kruze chairs in our London Office, the quality is outstanding and the sumptuous leather is a real treat to sit on!

Propress Steamers are used extensively in the soft furnishing trades, from steaming curtains when they are hanging, to sofas at point of manufacture and delivery, bedding, carpets and much more!

We wanted to find out how Propress Steamers fit into Boss Designs production, so we arranged a trip to tour their factory.

Boss Designs use their numerous Propress steamers all day long, at multiple points of the manufacturing process, steaming cushions to remove dents and bruises and plumping up the foam.

Steaming the leather chair covers makes them supple and pliable so they can easily be stretched over the chair structure ensuring a tight close fit.

Fabric covers are shaped and folding creases removed and steam can accelerate the bonding process to make sure the fabric follows the exact contour of the cushioning.

We asked Virginia Seward, Operations Manager for Boss for a comment:

We have worked with Propress for many years and using their steamers in our busy upholstery manufacturing plants is like employing additional craftsmen. Our product has to look sharp and crisp as it is often front and centre of office, meeting, reception and leisure environments. Propress steamers are built to last and we have the security of working with a well established professional business who excel in customer expectations.”

It’s a great privilege for Propress to work with such innovative and stylish companies like Boss Designs and to be able to play a small part in the finishing of their stylish contemporary designs.
